Borro Wristwatch History

Client: Borro, an asset lender who specialise in luxury items like watches, sports cars and antiques.

Content: An illustrated history of the wristwatch from 1868 to the modern day.

Watches were a key topic for the client and so the idea was to create content that would demonstrate expertise as well as a unique minimalist design. All the images were hand drawn and digitalized by an artist (based on my very rudimentary sketches). I also felt it important to make it interactive – hence the hover-to-reveal information on each watch.

Having all these different images also allowed me to share them across social media and share on art and illustration websites.

Results: The page gained around 20 backlinks – including very good topical links from Watch Freeks, Watchco.com and was included in Cool Material’s popular link round-up. It also had a lot of referral traffic and because the content was evergreen, it continued to bring in regular traffic months after it was launched.
